Editing Toposolids

I never had any problems with Toposurfaces but I am just not able to work with Toposolids! However many videos I watch explaining Toposolids I just cannot follow them.  Currently I have a Toposolid made from a 3D survey points cloud, but I am unable to cut a hole in it where the building sits and I am unable to edit the points outside of the building to create paths, roads and paved ares etc.  Can anyone tell me where I can find some straightforward instructions that will explain this to me please.
