Hello. This may be a simple question, but I can't seem to find (or possibly I may not be understanding what I do find) the resolution to a problem I'm having by searching so I'm hoping that someone on the Forum can help ![]()
I am trying to edit an aluminium material in Revit Light, so that I can have black aluminium window frames and doors, but silvery-grey aluminium standing seam roof. To do this I have duplicated the aluminium material and called it AluminiumBlack - no changes to the Aluminium material. I then edit the graphics and appearance tab so that any colour will appear as black. I do not do this to the Roof Standing Seam (which is set up as metal-aluminium). However, when I render, the roof turns black, so I've gone into my material management tab and corrected the Roof Standing Seam to a grey finish and apply this, and immediately the AluminiumBlack window frames turn a matching grey.
I have checked the metal-aluminium material, and made this grey; I have checked the metal type and finish in the appearance type of both AluminiumBlack and Roof Standing Seam materials to ensure that they are different; still I'm having this problem.
Has something gone wrong? Have I overlooked something? Or is this an Asset issue (that I don't understand!)?

Thank you...Just so I'm clear..
Step 1. Duplicate the material I want to change.
Step 2. in Duplicated material duplicate the asset (do I get a rename or equivalent pop up with this?)
Step 3. Change away...
