Editing family in every view / every workplane?

I am creating a custom fascia for my roof and i need to extrude the family in a way that would allow the corner profiles of the fascias to be mitered, only issue is because of the awkward shape of the fascia profile i'm trying to use a faced based family template rather than a profile based template, this is because i need to see the a plan view of the profile in order to create the mitered corners. unfortunately revit is only allowing me to edit the family in the view or workplane that the family was created in, but i need to to be able to edit the family in all views as that is the only way that i can properly draw the outline of the fascia profile.  Is a there a family template that would allow me to edit the family in all views/workplanes, or the there way around this issue ?

Almost sounds like an application for Work Plane Viewer.

Workplane view only shows a 3d view unless im missing something plus it still doesnt help with editing as for example the only way to properply extrude the shape that i want is to be able to edit in elevation view,  but since i created the family in a plan view i can't edit in elevation view and vice versa if i were to create the family in elevation view then i wouldn't be able to edit it in plan a view

Use a sweep instead of an extrusion.

I thought that's what we were talking about? How else would you do it?

Maybe... if you can read between the lines and translate "extrude" to "sweep".  Anyhow, may be @emmanuelbee can post an image so that we can understand with what he is dealing with.

It's called a SWEEP EXTRUSION, smartass.

@ToanDN: what do you want: a badge? Well, I'm fresh out of 'em at the moment. Try your semantics routine with me another day.

But, when you put the words "Fascia" and "Extrusion" together in the same sentence, 99.9% of Revit users will think "SWEEP". That's a Trump statistic, so it's got to be true -- not fake news.

Cheers, brother.

Huh... so you didn't read between the lines after all, you were just missing the "face based" part.  With that said, the whole things don't come together in anyway that makes sense.  Is OP talking about placing a face based family on every segment of the roof or an in-place sweep?  There shouldn't be any problem editing a sweep in different views.

Guilty. Blame Evelyn Wood. She taught me my speed-reading skills.

So, when does the public flogging begin. I want front-row center.
