Edit the Room Boundaries

Is there anyway to define manually a room area? its a common pain to me the automatic tag function seems to have a mind of its own i would like to be able to adjust its selection.Thanks

Use Room Separation Lines. In Wall Properties, uncheck Room Bounding.

Can you shed some light on what is happening when you are placing Rooms, that is making it frustrating? Something definitely not right in that screenshot- on that face of it.

Better to solve that issue- than have to manually define Room Boundaries with Room Separation Lines.

Kind regards,
Ian

See if there are hidden Room Separation Lines in the View.

VG>Model Categories>Lines>Room Separation--make sure it is checked.

Also, use "light bulb" tool to Reveal Hidden Elements--see if Room Separation Lines are hidden.

You need to:
1. Define the Room boundaries, (using Walls/Curtain Walls/Windows/Doors) and Room Separation Lines when those boundaries fail to work (as they so frequently fail, eg. when those elements don't start/stop at Revit Levels, don't join perfectly, or have complex joins/edited profiles)
2. Place a Room
3. Tag the Room
the video above shows that you have missed the second step several times.

Rooms in Revit are like a teenagers' sleeping quarters -- a malodorous, unruly mess, that a sane person would avoid entering.

Just a few examples:

  • Rooms need an option to display Boundaries, as you can with a Separation Lines (Highlight needs the option to leave it on whilst working);
  • a Tolerance Setting for allowing gaps in the room Boundary;
  • the Room (host) Level should be changeable and work according to a Work Plane or Floor rather than only a Level, at present a small vertical gap or overlap between the Room's host Level and wall/door/window prevents the Room Boundary from being closed;
  • they should be able to follow the height of the Floor/Ramp below and Ceiling/Soffit/Roof above which may be stepped or sloped.

If you do not want Revit to apply area rules, on the Modify | Place Area Boundary tabDraw panel (Apply Area Rules), clear Apply Area Rules, and specify the offset.

are you searching for this?

without apply area rules, it won't auto move between wall intorier or center anymore.
