I have updated to Revit 2018.3. One issue I don't like, and assuming that this is just the way Revit 2018.3 is; When I create text and I want to modify it, I highlight the text, I have to then hit the "backspace" or the "delete" key vs. just typing the new text, most other programs that generate text allow you to do that. I feel that prior to 2018 this was the case, in which I did confirm with Revit 2016? Is there something I am missing or is that just the way the code is written. If so, this needs to change, this would be more valuable than certain new features that have been release with 2019. I have tried this with Revit 2019 and the same thing.

There were some major changes to the text editor. What you are describing is what I've found to be an intermittent bug where the input does not immediately show in the editor. It will often "appear" when exiting the editor. Backspace and/or delete are not really required unless you are experiencing something that I have not come across.
Hi @MS_jkimc65
I see what you are saying.
This could be a post for the Revit ideas forum.
The way to edit a text is as follows:

Hi @MS_jkimc65
I ran a simple test in Revit 2019.
Please check the screencast below to edit a model text and a text note in Revit 2019
Hope that helps! Let me know if you have additional questions!

I see the same text editing issues. Myself and many other coworkers hate that editing text boxes are intermittently unresponsive (perhaps up to 40% unresponsive). We also found that using backspace or delete may get the text to display, but in some cases we have to completely exit the text editor and get back in. It is extremely frustrating to type entire sentences and looking over at the screen to find nothing was ever added to the text editor.
Honestly Autodesk's number one complaint regarding Revit has been text editing issues. They did try to address some of the issues in the 2017 release, but they have a long way to go.
I have read several reviews about this issue since the problem started occurring after the 2017 Revit release. No one seems to have good solutions. I think Autodesk should invest in fixing this over some of the new features they may be working on. Good luck to everyone and please let the Revit community know if someone actually does discover a good fix for this.
Coming from the days when MText in AutoCAD was a new thing, I have to say that getting the text editor fixed and improved was a constant wish item then and since I started Revit quite a few years ago, it has been the same. Keep your fingers crossed that there is a major fix coming soon.
I am having the same problem.... still!
It has been going on for years now and it is absolutely inexcusable that AutoDesk has not resolved this.
I am working in 2020 and if anything it seems to be getting worse!!!
How can this be possible? This shouldn't be brain surgery. Just f'ing FIX IT for crying out loud!!!
It is incredibly frustrating to struggle with this day after bloody day.
This has been a problem across multiple releases and patches so don't just tell me do do the latest update.
It isn't going to fix it. I have tried that for years now.
We spend thousands of dollars on this software every year and you are still glitching on technology that has been resolved in most software since windows 95. It works on this forum. Use the same code writer who did this text editor.
No more excuses. No more explaining how to edit text like it is our first time sitting at a PC.
We know HOW to use the editor, the problem is it doesn't work.
Quit adding new BS we don't need every year and spend a few of the millions of dollars you squeeze out of us to fix this text editor once and for all.
PLEASE!!!
Sorry, this is the user help forum. The complaint department is down the hall and to the left.
It seems to be to buy a different product.
AutoDESK has been aware of this issue for four years now and it seems to be worse with this release if anything.
It is very clear that once they have your money they could care less.
It should be an easy fix but they are utterly indifferent!!
It is very disappointing and incredibly frustrating.
I have same problem for this bugs of 2018.3.. When double click the TEXT to open editing box, we cannot text everything...oops,we must type backspace before type any text.....
Another BIG BUGS on 2018.3:- linked Revit 's room bonding not working while checked room bonding box when re-opening the central model. We just fix by re-check the room bonding box..
