Edit Room Tags from Arch Model

Hi,

I am working on piping system and I have a linked Arch model.

I am trying to change the room numbers in Revit 2016. Arch's updated model with revised room numbers is not available.

What is the best way to change the room numbers. there are 10 levels .

The only resource that is available to me is new Arch plans in DWG. that has the new room numbers in them and an Excel Sheet.

Thanks

Virender

If you are tasked with planning the piping system, why is it necessary for you to change the room numbers?

thanks a lot.

The tool ' space naming utility' is not available in 'add-ins' so I installed from Autodesk app store(attached screenshot)

I am not sure if that will work.

Hi,

Good question, I am not changing anything in the piping system as it is already installed on site. The client had recently changed the room numbers. For example

Clinical Support Room

Old Room Number: 10.300

New number: 10000

That's the only change I need to make in 10 levels and I estimate they are more then 500 tags that are required to be changed.

From 2017 onwards we can simply click and change the room number but Revit 2016 doesn't have this feature.

Do you have any idea?

"Spaces"??? How the heck does this relate to "Room Numbers" or "Room Tags"???

So, you are tasked with changing room numbers? You can't do that through a link. You need to go into the parent to do that.

Does it mean that I have to go into arch model and edit the tags?

Absolutely.

Think about it. You are the owner of a Ferrari 812 and you loan it out to another person. Do you what to get it back all chopped, channeled and sectioned? Of course not. You want to get it back it the exact same condition.

No difference here.

Strange analogy; huh? FWIW: I'm available for birthday parties and bar mitzvahs too.

That wasn't very collaborative of the architect not to give you an updated model!

You can bypass renaming the rooms and just rename your space, if you are using space tags and not showing the architects room tags by linked view or something crazy like that.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
