DWG layer overrides accross different views?

Hi all,

so if "imports" are set by view templates, we cannot query a DWG and turn off layers.

So we need to take the imports out of the view templates, and hide layers as needed.

Then we try to copy/paste the DWG across other views, but all overrides are reset, and the DWG shows as just linked.

Great.

So I reactivate the view template tick on "Imports" and again the visibility settings are reset.

So now I have to screen capture the status of dozens and dozens of layers, and manually set them again, this time in the view template "imports" tab...

Any idea what else to do here?

thanks

Do not import .dwgs.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

@gsucci

Not sure why you are working with imports instead of Links bit anyways ... do not import straight into the project

  1. Either import into a generic model...ie treat those plans as loadable components
  2. Or link the DWG into a blank Revit model >> switch off the layer you want to switch off there >> link that revit into the main model and set the the RVTLink to display by link
