DWG import lines jagged

I know this has been asked before so excuse the repeat. Maybe someone can figure out what I am doing wrong....

I am consistently having issues with my DWG imports from the surveyor coming in with jagged lines and way off from my model. I have done the following things to correct the issue:

  • DWG file
    • moved the UCS to 0,0. (As a double check, I drew a line starting from 0,0 and it was by the survey)
    • purged
    • turned on all layers
    • zoom extents to check for items outside of the surveyed area
  • Revit file
    • ensured my model is close to the survey point, project base point and origin point.

I have attached the DWG however the revit file is too large to upload.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give!

(I am using Revit 2021 & AutoCAD LT 2020)

If you zoom extent and there is nothing out in abyss then you need not to move the UCS. Try linking the DWG auto center-to-center see if you still seeing the zagged lines.

That fixed it coming in away from the model but the lines are still jagged and the snaps are off.

Open the DWG in AUtoCAD and look at in in 3D you will see the topo and other linework are at different elevations. Separate them into 2 DWGs and link them in one by one see what you get.

AutoCAD can have weird junk in the drawing. So I WBLOCK it and you should be able to link to your Revit without having huge distance.

hello there,

I have followed the tread and tried doing all above. (include wblocking) the lines still show jagged when imported in Revit. Also my circles show squares when imported in Revit .

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks so much!

Hey there,

try selecting all geometry on AutoCAD and use the command explode. Do this one more time to ensure all element have been exploded.

that work for me, hopefully that does for you too.

Thanks so much for your response, Sorry are you suggesting to explode the cad file in AutoCAD or Revit? And then what to do after?

Thanks

No problem,

explode the CAD file in AutoCAD, after it save the file. Then try linking the DWG back to Revit trough manage links (do not import)
