DWG 3D survey points imported into Revit

Hi Revit normally built the topo surface automatically based on the selected DWG contour layer. But this survey file I received has a few survey points (showing as crosses in CAD). When selected in Revit they are identified as "block inserts and have no layer information.

Can anyone help to look at the points file attached and advise any automation to build a topo surface.

I think the problem is that they are points, and not blocks.

I don't believe Revit can read auotocad points.

Maybe get the surveyor to convert the points to blocks?

According to the Revit help, it can create a surface from a CSV file in the X,Y,Z format.  Attached is a CSV file that should represent the point objects in the drawing.

Use DATAEXTRACTION to extract the Points' X,Y & Z coordinates to a CSV file.  Doesn't appear to be a lot of relief though. It's pretty flat.

...here's a Plan View of the resulting Toposurface from CSV.  Import units=Meters.  Contour Labels (Decimal Feet) at intervals of 0'-6".

Is AutoCAD included with every seat of Revit?  I didn't assume that it was.

I missed the part where you said you didn't have AutoCAD.  Never mind then.

I've had AutoCAD for 38 years.  It was truly a question since I'm new to Revit, does the basic Revit subscription include any form of AutoCAD (maybe even LT).

DATAEXTRACTION is an AutoCAD command.

Regarding your other question, I wouldn't know about your subscription.  We have the whole kit and kaboodle here though.

FWIW: this is a USERS Forum.

Obviously we're on different frequencies here.

In post #3 I was trying to help a USER by providing a CSV file, without assuming they had AutoCAD available.

We probably are "on different frequencies here".   I thought I was corresponding with the OP.  Oh well.  Just disregard anything I said that was "out of tune".  :zwinkerndes_Gesicht:
