I have a revit model of 173 houses - not a massive rvt: 198Mb.
For these houses, there are 26 No. blocks and say 4 elevations of each block. For round numbers, lets say 100 elevations. I have created these as general arrangement elevations and will be set to realistic view to indicate materials. I need a duplicate set of elevations to show the technical information (movement joints, cavity barriers, door and window tages etc.).
I tried to set up a Dynamo script to duplicate all these elevations, rename the views and set view templates. I run the script and it was extremely slow. Let it run for 3 hours and then gave up.
So, I tried to test a duplicate elevation manually and found out this is where the delay was. To duplicate an elevation is taking 10 minutes ! Each elevation has a view template and a scope box limits.
If I create a new elevation, apply the same view template and scope box and then try to duplicate, it is done in 30 seconds. If I try to remove the view template and scope box limits on an existing elevation, it still takes 10 mins.
I have tried closing worksets to a minimum too, but no effect. I have tried changing the view templates back to hidden temporarily, rather than realistic, but no improvement.
I have tried opening the model in RVT 2023 and upgrading the model - no improvement either.
Can anyone please advise on possible causes or if you have the same issue ?
Thanks.
I am not experiencing it myself but there is a post about the same issue. What happens if you select the elevation symbol and elevation arrow on plan, copyclip and paste aligned?
I did try that as well - same thing I'm afraid. Getting a bit worried as I have a deadline approaching !

Reduce Far Clip Offset to near 0 then duplicate? Can you share the model?
10 minutes??? Holy cow! Maybe it's time for some routine maintenance (Auditing, Resolving Warnings, etc.).

Got Add-ins? Try disabling them.

Thanks both. I have spent ages on this troubleshooting now. Disabled add-ins, worked through all warnings (only line off axis types left), Audit, purge, far clip offset, removing all links. None have no effect.
Tried deleting and purging all my house type groups and this sped the duplicate up - to 3.5 minutes.
Lastly, tried opening the model and detach & discarding the worksets. Duplicate in 3 seconds !
Tried again by deleting the worksets, but no change.
So, I need to work out if I detach and discard, then I re-save as a workshared model and re-create my worksets if this works too. I am worksharing the model with another user, so will need them to relinquish and close.
How does this sound ? I think it will be fairly easy to put elements back on desired worksets.
Thanks.

What about open detach but not discarding worksets?

Nope
If you turn on Views worksets, what do you see?
Before you to discard worksets and re-assign them, create schedules, add/sort/group/unitemize by Workset, add another parameter and enter Workset name to it for records for the future workset re-assignment.
