Dummy Span Detail family drag control issues

I am trying to create a custom span symbol as a detail item family. I know that structural floors have span symbols built into them but its been requested for me to create a dummy tag in order to mimic the current CAD drawing standards at my firm. I've created a span family with drag controls at the end of the span arrows but our head drafter wants to also be able to drag the center dot at the middle so that it is not always centered evenly/centrally but sliding along the central x and y axis if that makes sense. I cannot figure out how to do this without breaking the family as I have it set-up now. I've uploaded examples of what I've tried to describe and attached my family, if anyone could help provide some guidance I would be grateful!

Set the origin to left ref plane (plane 1). Add an instance length parameter from plane 1 to plane 2 and constrain the middle symbol to plane 2. Add an instance length parameter from plane 1 to plane 3 (right plan) and constrain the end of the span to plane 3.

Now, you can place the family and align the left side then you can stretch the middle symbol and the end of the span independently.

Thank you for the quick response! I've updated the family origin and re-constrained the symbols so the family presenting the way I need it to, but now the drag controls are shifting with the opposite axis. Do you know what is causing this? I've attached the updated family and a screenshot for reference!

Try the attached family.

Hm, it seems like the drag controls still seem to be shifting around. Do you mind sharing what was changed?

Are you talking about these?  If so, they are centered of the extent.  I don't think you can move them with the line.  It doesn't matter anyway, you can still stretch or align the family, can you not?

Ah I see, I was talking about those arrow icons. The family works now, it just looks a little wonky when you click in and stretch the spans. I was hoping there would be a way to align the drag arrows to the actual family symbols instead of having them centered on the entire width of the family so it would edit a little cleaner.

Thank you for your help!

Change the reference planes to reference lines and center the line on the arrow. The controls should stay center on the the reference lines.
