Hello everybody,

i would like to know if it's possible to use two monitors in revit, but not in the convecional way, extending the desktop and draging the window than using the comand "WT".
I would like to have one monitor with only the 3D view, and work in the other one, and working in indepently ways.

thank you

Short answer is: No

Long answe is: The answers linked above me are purely "hacks" which will give you something resembling the solution you are seeking, but not in a very useful way. Expanding your screen (or desktop) across multiple screens is a tedious and really counterproductive way of working with Revit, as every new view or sheet you open will have to be manually resized.

Revit has yet to implement true "multi-monitor" support, and to be completely fair i don't understand why. Even 3rd party applications have managed to do "live syncs" with Revit models, which mean that working with a 3rd party synced application on your second monitor is a more intuitive solution than working with Revit itselff across two monitors. Quite redicilous if you ask me. 🙂

Even if it was only to see a 3D model view on your second monitor and not full view implementation, Autodesk should really look into this feature, which would vastly improve the possibilities and workflow of Revit.

I'd say this addin is the closes you can get. You can then assign shortcut to the bigger/smaller window so it gets faster and easier.

Unfortunately autodesk does not seem to listen to requests for improvements to the GUI as nothing has changed really in years.

Hello from Spain, Lucas

Everything has been said.
Untill now Revit does not support detaching work windows or views out of the main revit window.

Only some "special" parts of the revit interface can be placed out there, in other screens:

- Project navigator
- Properties palette
- Sections of ribbon.

This way you can free up valuable room in the main revit window to lay more and bigger work views.

Regards.
