Hello!
I have a problem with drop down lists in Revit 2018. They were working OK until this morning, when I was trying the draw a wall and assign a location line from the Options Bar. When I clicked on the drop down arrow nothing happened - it remained at the "wall centre line" default.
I tried to modify it through Properties Palette, but the drop down didn't work there either.
Then I tested other drop down lists in the properties and in the options bar, but they all seem frozen. The same happened with other Revit architectural elements.
I reinstalled Revit, but it didn't help. Could anyone advise what might be causing this problem? I am quite new to Revit, and might have accidentally clicked on something....
Many thanks!

Hello @Anonymous
Can you show some pictures or can you share the file for testing?
There may be a problem with your wall family. Try using a different wall family and see if you are able to change the centerline. If that works, then you just need to reload that broken family from an earlier version (not sure why anyone would be editing your stock library, but hey, it happens). If not, there's likely something in the API that has locked your walls to one centerline option. This is what happens when Revit users tinker with central libraries and settings... they break other people's stuff ![]()
Revit does not support dual monitors in the traditional sense. You can move Revit views and browsers to separate screens, but in the absences of "active display" (a driver function not available on most laptops even if they support dual monitors), only the screen containing the main Revit window will allow modification of elements. This is because Revit actually calculates "distance on screen" when moving or constraining elements. Autodesk understands that most Revit users aren't actually doing the math behind their designs, so rather than implement a pure coordinate based system, they use this visual system. It's a pain for those of us who ARE doing the math, and apparently for those using laptops without active display.
Note: Active display is achievable with an external graphics adpater.
