I am trying to draw a point on Level 1 , but I can't find a point element in the drawing tool. I have  installed revit update 2.  The draw panel is not an option and does not appear when I select Home.  here is what my screen looks like when I get to the draw panel.  Thanks for any help.

Hi @Anonymous

Remember that Revit is essentially a modeling software, to simulate actual building components. There's no way to draft a point in Revit. You can use points in conceptual mass creation enviroment, for advanced purposes, but it alone inside the mass won't even show in project views.

You will be able to do this in Project, if

  • you turn first to Massing and Site > In Place Mass > draw Point - from Properties > Graphics - check Visible  then Finish Mass
  • back in Project you will be able to see the point ...
  • In some of the views ( 3d views)  the point is so small that is, indeed dificult to be seen , but it is there.....if you make a window selection you'll find it

I've made a screencast on the subject , but it will take a while processing it....

Thank you, I will try that.  see below.

This "draw" panel "point" choice shown on the help site does not appear as shown below on my machine.  I am wondering if I need a software patch or fix.
I am trying to build some construction lines and needing some reference points.

Here is a snip from the online help tool I was trying to follow.  When click on the Home tab I don't get the  "Draw"  panel choice.  I can only get to the draw option by Clicking "Home"  then click "Model line"  then point element does not appear in the draw menu.

Hi, @Anonymous

No, you do not need any patch. Please follow the pics bellow.

Go to Massing and Site, where you'll find the In Place Mass tool.

Draw your point, check the Visible Parameter and finish the mass.

Remember that what you created isn't a point, but a mass. So it will only be visible if you check mass to be visible in your views, as @constantin.stroescu said.

Good luck! Regards
