This one is new to me. Just downloaded a consultants model from the cloud 260MB. Opened the file and used one of the plugins our company created to copy roughly 25 views from a linked file. I then made a view template and removed the linked file save and close.
Uploaded it to the cloud and it became 190mb. I screen recorded the entire process and can't determine what happened.
Later I found that their linked models were set to attachment. But even reloading the files in had no effect on file size.
Any ideas?
(Mind you, a Revit compression plugin might be handy)
This happens sometimes. When you 'delete' things from a Revit file it is not actually immediately removed from the file but just internally marked as deleted. Due to different internal rules at some time this part is released (cleaned up) an actually removed from the file. Than you can see a jump in file size. You can see the same when selecting "compact file' when saving a project/family

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
Sometimes just doing a "save as" will reduce the file size fairly dramatically. I have heard it explained as the way DB applications work, but I am not a real computer scientist or software engineeer so can't really elaborate much further than that.
