Hi
In revit family...
model wise, there can be solid or void.. and combination of that creates the final output..
you can convert any 3d solid into void and vice versa...
like in older versions of modelling in 3ds max or Auto Cad, one solid needed to be subtracted from other
( Boolean command ), but Revit uses Voids and Solid and its easy to control the final output..
in this case, Voids are not visible in any views...and they show up when required as you mentioned...
Case 1 - Void cutting a solid - in this case Void will vanish and wont show... cause its job is done..
Case 2 - Void is not cutting any solid - in this case, Void Does show in views so that it can be used
to cut a solid...
so in following case.. b ( void ) is visible cause its not cutting anything at that location, but the moment
its placed correctly, it does its job and shows the final output...
hope this ll help you..
backrest example - solid - void ( a - b = c)
Hi,
Your answer is useful. For that model when we click the final output in the preview view, the voids are not getting highlighted(image A), But when we click the final output in the 3d view, the voids we have used are getting highlighted(image B). why this happens?
Hi,
Thanks for your quick replies, Here what our doubt is how to set the PREVIEW view with voids invisible.
Hi
Create a 3D view..
rename it to "Preview"..
and while saving a Revit family, in Option select this..
Save as - options
Select the Correct THUMBNAIL PREVIEW view... Check Regenerate ....
So next time while opening the file, you can see the preview..
