Doors in ceiling plan

I have a problem with doors. The doors we are using has a glass overhead panel. When I change the view range cut plane to 2500mm the door doesnt change and looks same as if the door panels are cut! Also in ceiling plans no matter how I change the view range the  door leaves remain there

I have 2 set of plans per floor, 1 at 1200mm and one at 2500mm I want the door to to show properly where it is cut and also in the ceiling plan

That is because:

  • View Range in doors and windows do not follow the View Range of the main model
  • What you are seeing in the model are 2D details/lines

If you need to see the door detail at the upper level cutting through glass panel, you can

  • edit the family
  • Go to Object Styles and create a new subcategory (ex: 2D at 2500mm FFL)
  • add new 2D detail/lines using the SC created above and visible in Plan/RCP
  • After  you load the door into the model you can switch the subcategory On/Off per view depending on the type of plan or where you are cutting

Alternatively; you do not need to model the glass panels (left/right/top) as part of the door...you can use a curtain wall => when you change cut plane to above the door, it will cut the curtain wall instead of the door and you will then see a glass panel instead

  1. use store front wall for the glazing (left/right/top)
  2. Select center panel where the door should be inserted / Unpin / Change type to a basic compound wall
    • Set thickness of wall to match door frame
    • Set material to glass similar to that of the other curtain panels
  3. Place a simple single/double door

The above will look like the below
