Hi all,
I do have a question.
I have created a basic windows doors and family usable for up to building permit.
Based on your experience, is it better to model super detailed families in order to accomplish detail design or add those information in dwg detailed views and/or add info to families like text parameter?
Ahhhh the age old question...... Over model so you don't have to detail as much or minimal detail so your model preforms better and add detail in your details.
i take a mid-line approach. i model enough detail to make it look decent in a elevation or 3D view, but not so much that it will make the family more than 750kb -1mg (preferable below 500kb). then use standard details, imported from my detail library file, add what ever details i need using detail items, linework & text. the extra detail can also be added in the same way to Sections, Callout's, etc... as needed.

It is an evergreen.
All the time I think that I am over- modelling a family, but the idea to give a threshold to family size is not bad.
