Door Types in Properties Palette

How do I get the door types (Type Mark) to show up in the properties palette?  I know that it will be greyed out, because it's a type parameter, but it would be useful to have it displayed to keep track of what door is what in plan without always having to open up the Type Properties.  I haver 125+ doors and a dozen door types, just I'm just trying to find an efficient way to check/double check my doors.

Add it to the Type Name.

While that is a simple solution, it's not a viable one.  Putting the type in the name effects the family; these are common doors that we use in multiple projects.  Not every door is used in every project -- what may be a Type A in one project, may be a Type D in another.

It seems to me, in a software program that is parameter driven, there should be some way to get the Type Mark to show up in the properties palette.  I just haven't been able to figure out how yet.

I suppose another question that may help: where is the info generated that displays in the Properties Palette?  Some of it appears to come from the Type Properties, and some of it seems to come from the Schedule(?).  I am not much of a programmer, so it can be frustrating at times trying to understand why Revit does what it does...

If you select a door in the model then Property palette shows instance properties of that door.

If you select a door type in the Browser then Property palette shows type properties of that door type.

So if you want to see a Type Mark of a door without Edit Type, then select the door, right click and choose Find in Browser, then you will see the Type Mark in the properties.  Is it better or quicker than Edit Type?  I don't think so.

I am slowly learning.  It's a matter of instance parameters versus type parameters.

You can rename a family/family type in JUST the project and not save it to your library.

Another option could be to have a working floor plan that has all of the doors tagged, with the tag showing the type. Then you don't even need to select the doors to see.
