Door Tags & Families

Hello,

Curious if there is a way to specify for a door family where and how (Orientation) the tag will generate when the door is tagged? For example, for a slicing door i want the tag to generate horizontally 5" away from the front face. For a swing door, i want the tag to generate vertically 3" away from the door face. Is there a way to specify a location and orientation on per-door family basis?

Thanks!

Are you talking about directional arrow in Elevation - typically a Detail Item?  You can constrain it to a Ref. Plane and control the Ref. Plane position parametrically.  There are many Families in the OOTB Content Library that do this, and not just doors either. Handles in some Casework Families are parametrically positioned.

Oops..another speed-reading accident.  You have me scratching my head now.  Got pictures?

When you tag a door, the tag is generated and pops up in a random spot near the door - i want to define where the door tag generates based on the door family type.

No can do - automatically that is.  Manually, no problem.

...you could Tag All with a specified Leader Length and then select All Tags and collectively change their properties under Options.   That is, Free them and turn off Leaders.

Create difference tag types and possibly different tag families.

FWIW here, you can deselect "Tag On Placement".
