Door not cutting wall

Hi,

I cannot make any door to cut this wall. The same door is cutting other walls, so there is something wrong with the wall.

Thanks.

Select the door and pick new host, then select the wall again. You may want to do it on a 3D view, even Isolation the wall and the door, see if it helps.

So you are accusing the wall?  Try the Cut tool first.

...just curious to know: do you have any overlapping wall warning in the project.

How can I check whether this wall is hosting (or overlapping) any other wall? I was thinking the same, but cannot figure it out.

I did read the warning this time and it said that the wall and the door are in different phase. Wall existing, door proposed. If I put them in the same phase, they are happy. (Maybe there is something wrong with the phasing, otherwise it's a bit strange that you cannot put a door later than the existing phase. Sorry, but I inherited this model and got to get the best out of it).

Thank everyone.

Phasing! YOU found the cause! Congrats. Now change your Phase Filter to Show Complete.

...oh, and select your wall and look on the contextual tab. Is "Warnings" displayed for it? Drill down into the Warnings dialog box and see what it says. If it says Overlapping Walls, then you have another wall in the same location. Door can't host to both of them.

I'm loving how everything else is the problem; not you. In my neck of the woods, that's "a loose nut behind the keyboard" issue.  Pretty common.  Usually remedied by learning the software.

"If I put them in the same phase, they are happy. "

If the wall is existing and door is new then the door should in a new phase.  You probably has the Phase Filter set to None so just simply change it to:

- Show Previous + New if you want to differentiate the phases visually per Phase Graphic Overrides.

- Show Complete if you want everything looks new

Now we are in phasing... Looking for some disappeared stairs which are filtered out of the drawing somehow.

In this drawing there are no traditional Phases with the filters how it should be set up, because of some reason all of that has been destroyed. Can I go back to the original phase filter set up somehow? As you said Show all, show new, demolition etc...

Sure.  You can always duplicate the views and assign different Phase Filters to them.  That is how we have Existing plans, Demolition plans, and New plans.

So, everything is ****ed up. Just go to Manage Tab=>Phasing=>Phase Filter Tab and then reconstruct the Phase Filters per these OOTB settings.

...just to be clear: you're adding, not subtracting or renaming/redifining, filter conditions.  You just want add the filters you're familiar with, so you don't have to figure out the other guy's method-to-madness.
