I am numbering my doors by room, for example: Room 101 will have doors with tags: 101A, 101B, etc.
For those that use this method, do you combine Exterior Doors with Interior or separate by Exterior/Interior?
I feel I want to separate the doors function in the schedule Exterior/Interior, however by doing this it separates the Door Marks. For example, if 101A and 101B are Exterior, but 101C is Interior, they would show in different places in the schedule. So I'm torn. (See example image with a similar situation)
For context, I am working on a 2 story house similar in scale to Revit's example Residential project. The office I'm in has used the sequential method of organizing doors in the past (1,2,3, etc. Putting Exterior doors first in the numbering, followed by Interior. However, I'm considering the benefits of room based numbering which is why I'm asking the question above.
I'm not sure what help we can provide... if you want to sort by interior/exterior, then interior and exterior doors aren't going to be in the same place.
Our exterior doors are TYPICALLY 4 digits, and interior doors are 3 digits, but that corresponds to vestibules and corridors, which are labeled the same. So they're not technically separated, but they do come at the end of the schedule rather than mixed in throughout.
We don't do single family homes though, so that workflow wouldn't really apply to you.I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. Its just whatever you want to do.
I separate exterior from interior. Interior numbers are associated with room numbers. Exterior numbers are associated with facade identifications.
