door inside a window family?

I want to create a window family that has a door inside of it but I need to be able to tag the window and also the door.  Is this possible?  Basically these are screens / CW objects that have doors inside of them.  I could create them as windows with doors inside, or a door with windows around it, or even CW with door panels.  The point is to have it adjust based on width, height, door height, door width, and transom height and be able to tag it and have it show up in a schedule.  Thanks a lot in advance.  Or I could just model individual doors and windows close to each other and then they would work properly but are limited as far as automatically updated based on changes made.  Thanks again.

Regards Peter.

Why not using a Curtain Wall with a Curtain Wall Door as an infill panel?

Because I have to manually change every door size and panel size individually.  Think of having a parametric window setup that I can just plug in the sill height, width, and main window sizes and it automatically adjusts the other panes.  The window associated with the door is complicated in that there is a panel in the middle with 4 equal panels on each side that has to change depending on the overall size of the window.  Parametrics is important to have it behave properly and quickly.

If there is no way to do it, fine, but I would like to be able to have a door associated inside a parametric window family that can be scheduled and tagged.  I don't mind adding a shared parameter if required.  Thanks.

That is exactly what a Curtain Wall with infill Door is for. You change the space between the grids and the Door size changes to match.

Anyways, if you already have a Host window setup then you can nest a door family and associate its dimension parameters with parameters in the host window family.

Both ways are pretty common.

I don't believe that is what the CW is for, as it is not parametric??  I have to adjust every grid individually.

Yes - I have a family with a nested door and it was not tagging it?  It shows as a window, so a door tag doesn't work.  Do I need to do something to the nested door to be able to tag it?  I want it to show up in the schedule as well.  That would be optimal.  thanks.

Yes, in the door family, you need to tick 'shared' before nesting it into the host window family. Then you can tag it.
