Door frame to create a rebate in the concrete profile plan

Hi,

Is there any way that one can make a door frame to create a rebate in the concrete profile plan?

I have a floor waste family, a strip drain and a generic slab setdown family that all show up as cutting the concrete (by creating a void) however when I loaded in the strip drain into the door family it did not cut anything even though the category is set to cut in the family. I have both tried having a void surrounding the frame and strip drain in the door family as well as just having the strip drain loaded in that works in the project but it does not end up cutting, neither does the Door frame (which is a frame family loaded into the door family).

Am I missing something or can components in a family not cut floor in concrete profile plans? Am I just wasting my time trying to make the family super smart?

Cheers!

A void in the nested family won't cut the host project element (wall/floor), the void will need to be in the hosting family (top level or the family that gets loaded and hosted in the project).

That written...it is possible to use a door family as a nested frame (frame) and place that in another door family (the one that gets placed in the project. That might get you where you want to go. In other words, your nested frame/rebate is a door family that gets placed in the hosting door family and it cuts the host element in that family. Then the final version is loaded into the project.

I ended up using a family that was hosted to the floor, and loading in my bottom door frame bit into that one as my C shaped door frame was not hosted and didn't cut anything (as door frame usually aren't). The whole thing ended up being a babuchka doll or whatever they're called and there was a lot of linked parameters but it did the trick. I just wish there was an easier way that when you have anything that is set down 100mm then there will be 100mm void cut in the slab. Maybe one day. 😉

Thanks for the tip though!
