Door family vs fire resistance

Hi

I would like to know if there is a way to link the fire resistance parameter of a wall to a door family.

If so, I would also like to be able to withdraw 15min from that parameter.

Ex: I have a door in a 1h fire resistance wall. I need to have a 45min fire resistance in my door schedule.

Thank you.

There is no way to make that "link" with the built-in tools. But you could write a script in Dynamo to read the values from the walls, store them in a list, modify those values, then get the values of the fire resistance of the doors, and replace those values with the values that you modified from the original values from the walls.

Attached are a Revit test file and a Dynamo script.  You can test it by clear the value for Opening Fire Rating from Host fro all the Doors and run the script to see how the value assigned to them.

It is too random... fire rating of openings are less than that of the wall and varies per function and type of space... he gave one example of 45min fire door in a 90min wall.

But a cool script :Gesicht_mit_Zunge:

Welcome back!

You are correct. But it can be controlled by different wall types by governed by local building codes.

We tried it a year back but ended up spending more time on error checking (finding needles in a stack of hay)

And thanks :leicht_lächelndes_Gesicht: thou I was only checking a thread to pass on to a friend who is still working with revit...but might be dropping in every now and then if client decides to go with revit on his new project

It doesn't help with the question directly, but in a somewhat related note, for those interested, there is a Revit idea under review here looking at doors also reporting the wall they are in: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/doors-to-report-walls-they-are-in/idi-p/6336393

Would certainly help when writing those dynamo scripts.
