Door family placed on the wrong side of the wall

My doors are placed on the opposite side of the wall than the one your'e hovering your mouse over. Hard to explain, here's a gif:

Maybe it was a mistake to model them on the "down" side in the family editor. Everything works fine, it's just bugging me.

I tried flipping the wall in the family editor so its exterior side is also facing down. Didn't help. If you tell me there is no fixing this and the only way is to remodel and reconstrain everything on the "up" side, I'll absolutely learn to live with it as it is 😄

How doors included with Revit are oriented ("up"), and how I modeled them ("down"):

It doesn't affect in projects so I would leave it.

How about the flip control?? Its not doing the job for you?

Whether the placement side is the exterior or interior flipping it using the control or space bar should orient it to the right side..you shouldn't really trip on how it was modeled

Oh no, it does, everything works fine (check the gif). I'd just like to know if modeling it on the "wrong" side of the wall in family editor is what's causing it. And if yes, can it be fixed without reworking the entire family.

I can see how that would bug you. It would bug me too.  But, c’est la vie.  As long as it keeps the in-laws out, I'm good.  😉

It is not wrong to fix...That orientation in Family editor only affects the initial placement of the family in the project...doesnt affect the function.

Simply leave it be as you modeled it. Not worth the time to remodel

Not sure on the complication of the family. I have been able to cut the elements, dimensions and reference planes to the clipboard. Then when pasting you can rotate and move before hitting finish. Depending on how complex and far you are it may work.  Yes it is irritating that if you swap with another door the swing is flipped so in my opinion I would change it.  Someone at some point will change the door type via a schedule and not know it is also changing the swing in plan.

Already fixed it.

You make great points here, and I would love to say that's why I fixed it, but I did it because it was bugging the hell out of me and I just couldn't leave it like that 😄

Yes I did the exact same thing, most of my families do not match the OOTB content, furniture etc., but when I realized doors would change the swing I had to adjust it.
