Hi,
Im working on a door family with 2 nested doors: 1 that opens to the left and 1 that opens to the right. They both have instance paramaters that either show a 90° or a 15° symbol in the floorplan and shows or hides the door handle.
I would like the make the direction of the door a type paramater but the symbol and door handels an instance parameter. But i can't use a formula that contains both a type and an instance parameter: "Instance Parameters can't be used in Type Parameter formulas."
Any ideas on how to make a family in witch the direction is a type property but the symbols shown an instance property?
Thanks
Why two Doors that have different handings? Use one Door and mirror the door on placement via Spacebar Rotate? This is accomplished by adding Flip Controls to the Family (Create Tab=>Control).
Than you cant make them show up as left or right doors in schedules. Right?
Another thing: it doesn't sound like you want Instance or Type Parameter. Sound like you want Subcategories so you can control visibility per View - not per door Instance.
The goal is to make 1 door family that will show up in schedules as left or right. But the designers can change the appearance of just 1 of those door on a floorplan without changing the type.

I see your point.
What about Family Types Parameter?

I don't see why you would have any issue doing that:
- one left door family with an angle instance parameter restricted to 15 or 90 degree
- one right door family with an angle instance parameter restricted to 15 or 90 degree
- in the project, select a master door family instance, choose left or right type (either via a y/n parameter or a family type label parameter), then choose the desire angle
Where do you have issue with those steps?
