Revit does use splines, but treats them different from Rhino NURBS, but it also uses polygons:

According to the Wiki pages, see under modeling - Revit allows users to manipulate whole buildings or assemblies (in the project environment) or individual 3D shapes (in the family editor environment).
Polygons consist of geometry based on vertices, edges, and faces that you can use to create three-dimensional models in Maya
