Does Revit have a measure tool similiar to Trimble Sketchup?

I'm new to Revit. I previously used SkecthUp for almost a year. SketchUp had a brilliant measure tool which allows you to use extend a dotted line (reference line) to the desired distance (refer to the attached PNG).

I realise in Revit when you move the wall tool from the corner of a building to the desired location there is a automatic measure. This is helpful but is there a way I can snap a dotted line to a particular distance similar to Skechup.

I also encounter the attached ("revrev.png") problem when there is an adjacent building so I can not find my desired distance within the subject building.

It does have a tool called Measure but it assumes you're measuring the distance between elements for information, not an action like move or copy. It's more like the Distance command in AutoCAD if you've ever used that.

Measure has two options: Measure Between Two Elements and Measure Along an Element.

When you need to move a Wall, for example, a temporary dimension might provide what you need or a permanent dimension will because you place it discretely between relevant elements. If you need to move several elements at a time a dimension can still help but you'll need to click on the Activate Dimensions on the Options Bar. A temporary dimension can be re-positioned too by clicking and dragging on the witness line grip (dot).

If you're working in Massing in Revit then selecting a surface will generate temporary dimensions you can use to adjust the distance that face is from another. You can also add permanent dimensions.

The answer in Revit always depends on context...
