DLL "penimc.dll" missing after Microsoft security Update (KB4042895)

Hello everyone,

earlier today my computer got the (KB4042895) update from Microsoft.

Now I am unable to launch any Autodesk product. The Revit Journal txt report says:

Die DLL "penimc.dll": Das angegebene Modul wurde nicht gefunden. From German: The DLL "penimc.dll": The Module cannot be found.

I found this in Google: https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/4048718/wpf-crashes-after-the-october-2017-security-and-mon...

Did the steps but receive the same error: Revit stopped working.

I am running a 64-bit LTSB Windows 10.

Revit 2017 with all updates from the Autodesk Desktop App.

Anyone affected too? I'm not sure what should I try next..

Thank you!

Hi @Bozhanov

Sorry to hear that you are facing issues.

Uninstalling the updates as mentioned HERE usually helps resolve the issue, but since you have tried this step there may be another accompanying issue.

Can you send us a journal to troubleshoot further? I can share a private folder for you to upload.

Also, is this issue specific to a single user?

Did you generate a CER  (customer error report that appears whenever the Autodesk product you are using closes unexpectedly)

Similar issues related to windows updates have been resolved in Revit 2017.1 and Revit 2018, more information HERE

Looking forward to your reply update.

Regards,

Hello Viveka,

I already tried the solution that was put on the Microsoft page but unfortunately it didn't work.

I could send you the Journal - yes.

And no - we are three people affected by the Problem. We still haven't found any solution to this..

Cheers

Hi @Bozhanov

I'm checking back to see if you were able to upload the files or had trouble with access?

Also, check the solution at the link HERE

Looking forward to your reply update.

@Viveka_CD

Hello, sorry for my delay - I just realised I needed to upload the journal here and I was waiting for an upload link from you or something.

Anyway - here is my journal : I think the point where normal boot is interrupted is:

' 0:< Managed exception occurred:
'C 19-Oct-2017 10:40:07.871; 0:< WPF RenderMode set to: SoftwareOnly
'Die angegebene Umwandlung ist ungültig. - This meaning that the exception is invalid.

I still don't have a solution to this. EDIT: Unfortunately changing the config files didn't work for me too.

Thank you!

Hi @Bozhanov

I wanted to share an update with you. This issue is in progress.

Can you share your most recent journal and NFO file as well?

Please see HERE for a related article.

I will let you know if I get more input from the team.

Thanks,

This didn't work either.

Unfortunately the search for a solution took too long. We had to wipe our whole systems and install windows and the BDSs again.

That solved it.

Bitter. I recon we could close this thread.

Thanks for your time!
