Displaying Light Fixtures in Electrical Plan

Hello, I'm trying to have my electrical plan (Right) display the light fixtures from the ceiling plan (Left).

I'm not sure the steps needed to do this.

Hello,  I'll try and answer in general terms.
First, you need to insert the light fixtures into the model properly. They can be either hosted on a ceiling or a work plane. Open a ceiling plan and make sure the view range extends high enough that the lights will be visible. Then insert the light fixtures to the ceiling (if you have one in the model) or to a work plane set to the ceiling height.

You can choose to display the light fixtures in your floor plan (for a combination plan) by extending the view range of the floor plan up high enough to see the lights.

In the light fixture family, create a model line that extends from the origin point on the light fixture, to the ground plane. Use an invisible line for the the line type. This will allow the light fixture to extend into the cut plane for your electrical plan and be visible. If you already haven't, you will want to turn off light fixtures in your main floor plan template.

Hi,

I had the same problem and found I had to select the view and change Properties -> Discipline, from Architectural to Electrical. Also ensure your view range is set the the proper elevations/offsets.

Hope this helps others,

Cheers

I use Discipline = Coordination to see everything, then turn off unneeded categories in VG.
