Previously our plans were drafted in AutoCAD, which enabled us to cut-off all stairs at the 3rd step from the bottom on the base level view, and show all remaining steps with the same cut-off on the view for the level above. Now with Revit we're finding that there is no choice but to show the entirety of a staircase below the top level, as opposed to there being a cut-off.
Drawing floors on the above levels can hide parts of the stairs, but that does not produce a useable cut-off zig-zag without the need to draw additional detail lines.
Alternately, any solution using Filled and Masking Regions simply takes too long to implement for the many stairwells in question.
Are there any other potential solutions for cutting off stairs that go up to the level being viewed?
Revit Stair Cut Symbol is controlled by View Range.
You can use a Plan Region around the Stairs in the View to set a different View Range for the Stairs in the View.
If you want a global cut of stairs independent from view range cut planes and without plan regions then it is not possible. But you can always request new features/improvements from the Idea forum.
