Discipline specific elevations in project browser

This is likely a very basic question but is there any other reason for discipline-specific views (elevations & 3D views) in the project browser outside of being able to filter the components in that specific view to that discipline?

@ejowalter

The project browser window is entirely user-configurable and the ability to sort and filter by discipline does not add additional functionality to the views that are displayed in the project browser. It merely reads the view parameters then displays them in the organization scheme that the user has chosen.

In my experience, including a discipline based sorting scheme is useful mainly in multi-disciplinary offices that model and document more that one discipline in the same Revit project file.

Hope this helps,

Project sorting is simply sorting and its sole purpose is organizing the views on the browser. Note: the discipline in the browser sorting does not necessarily mean that the view discipline is being used...it could be any parameter which has its value Mechanical while the view is set to Arch or coordination

On the other hand, the purpose of the View discipline is more related to the functionality and behavior of the views. Yes it is mostly about visuals bit not only filters. See link below where they detail all the specifics about view discipline.
