I'm having issues in one of my drawings. I'm trying to snap some dims to the fireplace hearth. I'm getting a error message that says, "The planes of one or more references are not exactly orthogonal to this view. The dimension to these reference cannot be created."
I can click to start the dim, but when I click to finalize it no dims show up. It's pissing me off. what is going on?
Revit can be very picky with what it allows to be dimensioned.
Elements need to be exactly parallel--it's not like AutoCAD where you can dimension to anything regardless of whether it's parallel to the starting plane or not.
If you really need to dimension this family and cannot change the geometry to be parallel/orthogonal you can choose an endpoint as the second dimension point (just tab when hovering over the endpoint of the face you want to reference).
yeah, I tried using tab. That didn't work either. I just fudged it by drawing detail lines and snapping to those. I hate fudging my work, but nothing else was working.
