OK.  I found that I can label dimensions thinking that I can have "temp" dimensions and "working" dimensions by using and turn off the temp dimensions but after applying, my plan went all screwy.

after a little research, is there a way to create a sub-category for dimensions similar to ref planes?

You can create Dimension TYPES and filter them.

If you are using Temporary dimension to lock the distance then there is a way to hide them and reveal while editing...

" Temporary Dimension "

1. Dimension.

2. lock

3. Delete the dimension ( click OK for pop up

4. That constraint can be visible by using " Reveal Constraints "

DimensionDimensionlock the dimensionlock the dimensiondelete the dimensiondelete the dimensiondefault viewdefault viewView with Reveal Constraints. Edit in this modeView with Reveal Constraints. Edit in this mode

By the way, if you really Need a dimension, non printable, then you can try creating a new

dimension style ( type ) and give a almost white colour .. so its visible while editing but wont print..

( disadvantage is , it might get exported in CAD if you are using that )
