Dimensions and Ref Planes moving out of sync

Hi, I have an issued with some Revit files, not all so I guess its not a files but Revit.

When working in plan if I add a reference plans or dimension then zoom or pan they move our of sync with the walls below!. its like it has a delay or something. I have tried to switch off and on 3D acceleration but no change.

I used a surface pro 4 i7 with 16gig of ram.

Is the geometry a really long way from the Revit internal origin?  That can cause that kind of behavior. I am guess this might be the case as it apears the walls were traced from a DWG file because they do not appear straight either. I am guessing the distance from origin is the problem here.

I agree with loboarch's assessment.

To see if your model is placed too far from the internal origin, you need to do the following:

in a floor plan, go to Visibility/Graphics Overrides > Model > Site > Make the Project Base Point and Survey Point visible.

Now in the view, Zoom To Fit and see where your building is position in relation to the PBP  and SP. If necessary, move the project closer to these points.

Did you at any moment move the PBP? If you did, select the PBP, unclip and then right-click on the PBP and slect "Move to Startup location". If this is greyed out the PBP is still on the internal origin.

Hi, The model had been provide by another practice. I have attached another image to show the origin.

Sketch (4).pngShould I move closer?

It's about the distance to the origin point in Revit, not survey point or project base point.

Open AutoCAD, create a blank drawing, draw a circle center point @0,0. Link the drawing to Revit origin to origin. Zoo m extent see what is the distance from your model to the circle.

You don't even have to do this. You can select the project base point in Revit, un-clip it, right click, and select "move to startup location". That will place it back to the internal 0,0 of Revit.

Hi, When I go to try and move it says I cannot move the point more then 10miles away!. Is there a way to move revits internal WCS! 0,0,0 closer to the model?

No it is not possible to move the internal WCS of Revit. You need to move your geometry closer to it or cut and paste the geometry into a new file close to the internal origin.

thanks for all of the help so far. I have attached another image. I have managed to move to site to 0,0. I cant seem to get the model to move closer now. Is there a way to do this? I have tried project location and relocate project but it dosent work!.  the model stays on the same place.

- Unclip Project Base Point and Move it close to or at your building model

- Clip it again

- Drag it close to the proximity of the Origin location (if you don't know where the Origin is, see my post above)
