Dimensioning with Linked Models

How do we not dimension modeled geometry of linked models in our projects?

For instance, if I create my own stuff in line with elements from an architectural central model so they're in perfect alignment, I then dimension by tabbing through the pop-up indicating what my cursor is currently over -- or, by turning off the architectural model altogether.  I'm looking for an icon like "Select Links" or "Select Pinned" Elements" to toggle on/off the ability to dimension to linked models.

by default, dimension command will see linked files.  You can turn off the linked file before dimensioning.

In those case why not select link and use temporary hide.

Thanks, everyone.  It seems others have this need and are handling this in similar fashion themselves.  Would be helpful for Revit to have a toggle-like tool for this.  That way we can leave linked in models for reference within our projects as we work (for reference).
