Difference between modeling view and sheet view

Could someone please explain what's the difference between modelling view and sheet view?

Like most, I'm working on a building project. I work on the mechanical part. I understand we can only use annotations on sheet view. So why shouldn't I just use a sheet view for all my drawings? For what purpose should I use a modeling view? Do we use modeling views just to see how other equipment (of other trades) are laid out? I'm a little confused. Could someone help me with this?

A modeling view is for you to work without restrictions from view template, visibility graphics, phasing, view crop, view scale and detail level, visual style, hide/isolate elements as you see fit to model more efficiently.

A sheet view is for placing on a sheet to create document but you already know that.

Are you talking about Revit? because what you stated doesn't make sense or relate to Revit and it sounds like another application/software, more like Autocad terminology...Where did you read that you can only use annotation only on Sheets?

Apart from schedules...in Revit you have 3D model views (Planes/Sections/Elevations/3D views), 2D views (Drafting views, Legends...) and and you have Sheets...you can use annotations on all of them. However, to annotate model elements, you need to be in the model not on the sheet (obviously) but then you could activate the model view on the sheet and place the annotative elements without switching views.

Here is a quick understanding the difference between model and sheet view

https://www.cadlinecommunity.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/115005630945-Revit-Understanding-Views-and-Shee...

Often Model is where you do your work and sheet simply use for printing. You can place annotation in model and sheet view. However once you placed annotation on sheet, you cannot copy it and paste it in model view. You can only copy annotation from model view to sheet view.
