Hello,
Is there any difference between:
And is there any difference between:
Auditing is checking if there are potential errors in the project file (i.e. database)
Compacting is removing items from the database (reducing filesize) that have been deleted before by the user.
For performance reasons databases are not removing items from database immediately. They usually do to this on intermittent basis or (in case of continuous live databases) when it is relative quiet or when a compact command is given

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
Thank you for your answer but my doubt actually is about doing these procedures in local files versus in central files, as I'm working in a workshared environment.
Model maintenance should be done directly in the central. I'm not sure exactly what the ramifications of doing it in a local could be but I could imagine it being risky. At a minimum, the work could be lost if someone else has a local open and synchs afterwards. At worst case, the central could become corrupt but that is just speculation on my part.
