When creating a stair tread or stair nosing profile, I'm unable to get a detail component to show up in section view. I have created various other profiles (wall sweeps) successfully which have nested detail components and they work correctly, so I'm almost certain I've build the component and profile families correctly. It is not clear to me from various searches or documentation if this is a limitation of Revit, or if I'm doing something wrong.
Goal:
For tread nosing to be shown differentiated from the tread.
Attached image shows how I want the stair tread to show, with differentiated nosing on the left (I've manually placed a detail component in view). The tread on the right is how Revit spits it out with the nosing merged with the tread.

Thanks for the quick reply. At least now I can stop spinning my wheels..
Has any solution or work around come up for this? I am also spinning.
See attached sketch that illustrates the nosing is not showing in plan views.
Any better work around than creating a family for treads and placing them on top the revit created tread?
That would require a lot of line work which I am trying to avoid. Customer wants a very, very detailed plan, sections and 3d model but also changes their mind/design. A lot.
Thanks,
JAK
I don't think there has been any movement on this by Autodesk. I feel your pain.
