Hi,
So I've been creating quite a few detail components for later use, on a scale of 1:2 or 1:5.
While making the .rfa file, post setting parameters, it works in the model space, however when i load it into the project it does not work like it should. This is what I've done:
-Set up instance parameters length and assigned it to the dim/reference planes
-set a constraint to the object, because without it, nothing seems to be working
- i have one for length and one for breadth, when i load this into the project, the width toggling works but the legth doesnt
- so delete the whole thing from the project, tinker around again and reload still no effect/ purge and reload, still no effect.
FYI, I did a similar [slightly more complex] component using the same steps and it works perfectly fine. However it doesn't seem to be working a second time.

Did you lock the lines to the ref planes? Maybe it would be best if you could send the component so we can take a look....

I have done that..and I have even strong referenced the planes to the lines. Inspite of this it is not working in the file its been loaded to. The family file in itself is working though.
Post loading it onto a project
Clearly the ditance[blue] has increased which mean the red markers are working, its only the one marked in blue that isnt working.
Family template file with reference planes and constraints
Hi
Try to keep the family simple..
Split that three sided " U " shaped component into THREE Parts
1. Vertical line
2. Horizontal line
3. Second Vertical Line..
( Tip: to assign a component to reference plane, aligning them doesnt work that smoothly..
follow this
1. that " U " shape component, create a centre line or edge reference line.
2. create instance parameter for length ( which you have already created cause its showing flexible arrows )
3. MAP that Instance Parameter in the FAMILY with another LENGTH... ex L1 - - map to - - -L2 , both instance parameters..
4. after mapping that, you may alight and lock the component wherever you need.. ex Edge, centre etc..
have reference planes with dimension, flex them, put whatever formula you need
to work the scale out..
Best luck.
HI,
I have done as you told, still no avail. I think I will try re-doing it
