Why does Revit 2018.3 open the Central File for seconds when opening a detached model?

I'll agree that it's ambiguous. Revit makes absolutely no changes to a model during the Open / Detach process. You can confirm this yourself in the command line with CertUtil -hashfile "Path/To/File.rvt" MD5. Testing this before and after a detach from central operation indicates there is no change to the hash, therefore no change to the file. You can also see this in the Date Modified metadata, but that's less fun.
As to the worksharing monitor. Is there some issue with reporting a detach operation this way? I mean, if it logged "Detach central file" instead of "Open central file", would there be something gained?

@alex.kaplan I'd say changing the log in the WSM to "Detach from Central" would only help clarify things and prevent mutliple users from calling support because the see people coming in and out of the Central file. Because everybody has their WSM open and are tought to pay attention to what is going on and to signal "unappropriate behavior" like being in the Central Model or not having their WSM open. In major projects, especially, we find this to be little details that could affect the health of the central models. Most of the time, I agree that I don't think it would be much gain... but if a simple change like this would help clarify and improve user experience, I think the little time (in my opinion) it would take to change "open..." to "Detach..." would be appreciated.
@Anonymous I understand where you're coming from and I see the value this would add to your workflow. This seems like a good candidate for a Revit Ideas post. There are currently only a handful of ideas associated with the worksharing monitor. If you create one, can you post it back here? It's an effective avenue for getting features like this reviewed an implemented.

I'm actually breaking my head to reverse this process. One of my collegues is trying to open our Central Model, yet, Revit automatically opens/generates a detached Central Model. Does anyone have an idea what's happening?
It's a mess, I'm constantly getting warnings on loading the same model I opened previously.

Let's be clear on this point. Why are they opening the central model? This normally isn't done and shouldn't be done when anyone has the project open?

What does this even mean? Please clarify.
