Design options not working right

I have a lobby I am designing and we want to see an option for area with a soffit and area with straight ceiling condition.

I have tried using the design option several times and changing the visibility graphics and i cannot get it to work right

Main model is just showing slab

I have an option that says "nothing" that is primary and just the slab condition so it's blank when I look at views and not showing all the options.

I have next soffit 

Last flat ceiling 

So I drew the soffit in the soffit option and clicked finish editing and it disappear. I went into the Visability Settings and set it to Soffit and I still didn't see anything. Then I did it again but now this time the sofffit shows up in my main model???? I switched to the flat ceiling and drew in the ceiling finished and everythign disappered. 

What step am I missing?

Hi,

It sounds like, you are just switching the option in Visibility Graphics, instead of switching the active option. You need to understand the difference between these two things.

You control the active option in the bottom toolbar or Manage>Design Options
If that says Main Model - all elements that you are placing, are being placed in Main Model. If you switch it to Soffit option, all elements placed will be in that option.

In the VG, if you set Design options to Automatic, it will show the primary option, if the Main Model is set as active. Otherwise it will show the active option with Main model elements grayed out.
However if you set a particular design option in VG, the view will only show this option - and it won't be affected by switching the active option
