I could have sworn that text and dimensions entered in the parent view carry over to dependent views, but I have a dependent view that has text and dimensions that seem to be independent of the parent view. I’m pretty sure they are dependent views as opposed to duplicate because they are indented under the parent view on the Project Browser. What I am I missing here?

I think I may have found the answer, i.e., operator error. Nonetheless is it correct that dimensions and text do carry over to each other?
Yes, text and dimensions should carry over to the "child" views. Is this not happening for you?
But changes to section markers, as in when you drag the heads, do NOTcarry over between parent and child views, correct?
I just had this same problem. So found this old thread that didn't show the solution.
You can do this in either the parent or the defendant, select the view region box and drag it out past your text.
If it doesn't extend out past the text it tends to ignore and won't show the text within the dependent view.
That is expected behavior regardless of dependency. If you don't want to extend the view region, you can extend the annotation crop, outer dotted box, to outside of the text so that it will be visible.
