Deleting Non-Native Parameters in Revit Families

Hello everyone,

I would like to inquire whether there is a way to delete all non-native parameters created within Revit families. As I use families from different suppliers, they often introduce their own custom parameters, which are not relevant to my work. It becomes cumbersome because these parameters consistently appear in the parameter list when creating tables, causing confusion and hindering productivity.

Is there an automated method, plugin, or code that can effectively remove all non-native parameters from families placed within a model, without having to manually open each family?

I appreciate any guidance or suggestions you can provide.

Thank you!

[EDIT] For non-native parameters, I  mean they aren't defaults for the family type. I know some parameters are there to make the family work, but most of them simply are useless, usually containing specific manufacturer information. It would be useful if I could choose which parameters to delete from a list or something like that.

Probably hard to automate since when the parameter is tied to something (like a length of an extrusion) it asks you if you really want to delete it.

But if three was a way to delete all not-tied-to-the model parameters at once, yes that would be nice.

And since you point out they show up in schedule builder, I suspect most should be family instead of shared parameters. I spend a lot of time correcting this as well (for parameters that actually are needed in the family) and manually change them to family parameters.

Most parameters in families are "non-native", if by non-native you mean they aren't defaults for the family type. So getting rid of all of those would most certainly break the families. Honestly, if you download a family that is that much of a mess, I'd look for another one. Or, as is my usual advice, take the time to learn how to make your own to fit your exact needs.

I use for this DiRoots Paramanager former add-in, now included in DiRoots One.

These guys are genius.

Hi, I would like to follow up on this.

DiRoots is great. Yes. But I can't delete nor modify the values of the ID-Data (built-in) in a family.

Any idea?
