Hello all,
Do you know if/how can I delete/purge the Class in identity asset of materials?
See Attachment.
Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Maria
As far as I can tell if the Class is in use, meaning its assigned to a Material in use in your project you cannot delete it, but you can change it to another Class. If you Purge (3 times) you will delete all that are not in use.
Good luck........
Hi @mairh_tsek
The appearance asset controls how the material looks in rendered views, ray trace and realistic views.
You can purge unused assets from the Manage tab, Purge unused command
Follow the steps below:
1. assign each material with the correct appearance asset
2. delete the appearance assets from the library
3. purge multiple times to get rid of the unwanted material assets.
More information HERE on material assets.
More information HERE on how to remove an asset from a material.
Let me know if this solves your issue and if you have anymore questions.

Hello all,
I would like to delete from the Identity Asset some Classes (like wood, gas...because I have these twice in englise and french, and I don't want the french classes).
Is the appearance asset relevant to the Classes?
Could you please explain me more what do you mean to purge 3times/ multiple times?
Thank you in advance!
Regards,
Maria
Actually, the first reply was/is the answer.
That "Class" is simply a text field that can be used to categorize the materials for sorting/searching purposes.
It works just like any other common text field... it will be in that list if it is used by any material in the Project and/or Family file...
You get rid of it by finding the materials that are using that value and change them to something else, or by purging the material if it is not in use.
**edited to remove extra information**
The second response was incorrect. The Appearance Asset has nothing to do with the "Class" in the material's Identity tab.
