Define Cursor Location on Placement of Component

The highlighted frame is a (GM)trim family that is used to go around windows and doors. However, when I use the command to place it, my cursor is not centered or at a defined point of placement I'd like. My cursor is indicted with the Red +. You can see it is far off to the left from the element I am placing.

How do I define my cursor location in the family editor? I would like to have it at a corner so that when I click I can control where it is placed better.

Insertion point is at the intersection of the x & y Origin Reference Planes in the Family.

Does this mean the insertion point will always be at 0' Elevation because it is on the XY planes?

not sure I understand you, but it sounds like you want a face-based family or a work plane-based family (via checking "work planed based", and unchecking "always vertical") with the trim geometry laying flat on the "Ref. Level".

Share your family and we'll take a look and see.
