Default Top Constraint

Every time a Revit user places a wall, it defaults to an unconnected wall height for the top constraint. Meaning that if in a session, I am placing 100 walls in the model, 100 times, I have to select the wall I just created and change the top constraint or remember to change it in the context bar before I start drawing it. My idea is this: Revit should allow users to set the default working top constraint of walls. This working default should stick at least until the end of a working session and allow Revit users to work much more quickly.

Revit remembers whatever was previously chosen, which works just fine for me. 

What if you're working on a multi-story building? Do you set a default for every level? That seems like more work.

Revit does not remember what I had previously chosen. I placed 50 walls on street level this morning, and every one I had to manually set the top constraint to Level 1, because Revit had defaulted to the unconnected height. It never once remembered my preference. It does not work just fine for me. It must be nice for you. I would like Autodesk to make it nice for everyone.

You are saying it works for you, but asking how it works in a multi-story building? I don't know. You tell me, since you say it works for you. How does it work on a multi-story building? Do you just set the default once when you move to next level? Is that more work than setting the top constraint for each and every wall you model?

Place the first...then use Create Similar. Revit will not assume on its own that all your walls should have the same constraints. These constraints are not treated as other options such as disjoin, copy and/or center of rotation for Revit to remember

Alternatively...if you section your walls per level, Select all in View and

1. Either input the Top Offset (T.O) or Top Constraint (T.C) once and for all
2. or associate them with a global parameter (G.P)

Creating similar of the above will also remember the set relationships T.C and/or G.P
