Decorative Gypsum Wall and Ceiling

hi all ,

I am new to Revit , so my first question is that I need to know what is the best method to draw a decorative wall . It need to be swept all around the opening/door, and it has different thicknesses.

my second question : is sweep the best way to draw the reflected ceiling? or are there any other sufficient methods?

thanks in advanceCeiling-DoorCeiling-DoorGypsum Ceiling DetailGypsum Ceiling DetailSectionSectionDecoration RefDecoration Ref

You can create it with a sweep using your profile with little to no effort.

I did it as an In-Place Modeled Component. A Sweep pathed along the Ceiling edge and using a Profile I created from your DWG linework.

For ceiling I just use railing and use profile. As for opening, I just use opening and use profile to create the look you wanted. See attached for sample and you can add expand on the detail.

If you edit the family, it consist of 4 different items.

First it is the opening

Next we have extruded element for both sides of the wall

Next the base is another extrude element

Finally we have extrude profile along the outside and inside edge. This appear for both sides.

Use join geometry so you will have custom opening frame.

@Anonymous: You can Path a Model Sweep Profile along almost anything - including a Model Line. Use your Work Plane Tool, Pick a Plane to draw on (this sets the selected surface as the Current Work Plane) and then use your Model Line Tool to draw your Sweep Path. After sketching your Model Line Path, start a Component: Model In-Place  session, select Sweep and Select 3D Path (your Model Lines). Now you can assign a Profile Family or hand-draw a Profile to extrude along the Path, and close out  of the editing session.  Voila! Sweep created!

@barthbradleyidea is the way to go. However if you do want to control which surface you want it to draw, you can also create a reference plane and give it name.

Go to 3d and click on SHOW reference plane. Then click on SET and pick your named reference plane

Then you can draw whatever profile.
