Dashed Detail Lines not showing in Revit section

Hi, I am currently using detail lines to add timber joists/other elements in my section. However, when I choose dashed lines under 'line style' tab, it still shows as a solid line. I checked Phases and it seems fine (attached photo). Please help....

if you are using the Detail Line tool itself, Phases have no impact on that linework, only model based linework.

Thank you. In this case, how can I trouble shoot reasons my dashed lines are not showing? is there anything else i can do to fix this?

if it is not dashed in any view, the next thing I would check the properties of the linestyle. The name could be "dashed" but someone could have changed it to solid or anything else really. It would be under Manage > Additional Settings > Line Styles.

what is the view scale and the length of the segments that are not showing dashed? if the scale is set large or the line segments are too small, they may still show as continuous even though they are set to dashed.

for example, this is a 12" box, but the dash is 12" long due to the scale of the view. consiquently the box looks continuous even though it is set to Hidden Line.

can you post a screen capture of what you are seeing?

Depends how complex the joist element. Complex model will display solid even if you did set them to hidden line. Reason is you have a lot of component in the model and Revit will set hiddenline to each of those component. When you have hidden line overlapping hidden line, it will display like solid line.

What you may have to do is to simplify display by turning off object not useful in section or set the view depth to not show greater than 10' (~3m)

Once you simplify the element display, it will show the hidden line as intended.

any reason you can't model the joists? Why Detail Lines or Model Lines?
